1. Create Your Account and Log In

1. You must be at least 18 years old. Read the Terms and Conditions, then select Join Free and complete the registration form.
2. If an activation email is required, check your inbox and spam folder, then follow the activation link.
3. Use Member Login to sign in.
4. Open your member profile to update the information you want to share.

Public previews are available on the homepage. Posting, private messaging and uploading photos may require you to log in.

2. Find a Practice Partner

1. Open Members or choose Find a Practice Partner on the homepage.
2. Browse the directory and open a member’s profile.
3. Read their profile to see what they have chosen to share.
4. Use the available connect or message option. If asked, log in first.
5. Introduce yourself and suggest a time to practice English.

Who’s Active Now and Recently Active Members help you discover profiles. Someone appearing there may not be available to reply immediately.

3. Explore Rooms

Select Rooms in the site menu. Rooms uses the same destination as the former Groups link.

1. Browse the available rooms and open one that interests you.
2. Read the room description and any rules.
3. If a Join or Request Membership button appears, use it to take part.
4. Read the discussions, introduce yourself and respond to other members.

Some rooms may be public. Others may require membership or approval. The Rooms link keeps its existing address.

4. Post or Comment in the Community Feed

1. Open Community or select Join the Conversation on the homepage.
2. Log in if you want to post or comment.
3. Use the available posting box to share an update, question or practice topic.
4. Open a conversation and use its comment or reply option to join in.

The homepage previews the latest ten public posts. Select Refresh to request an updated preview, or See All Activity to open the full feed.

5. Practice English Live

1. Select Practice English Live in Site Features.
2. The video chat room opens in a new tab.
3. Follow the room’s prompts and allow microphone or camera access if you want to use them.
4. If the room asks for a host or sign-in, follow the instructions shown there.
5. Introduce yourself, take turns and give others time to speak.

The room may be empty when you arrive. Arrange a practice time with another member beforehand.

6. Add Your Pictures to the Gallery

1. Return to the homepage and open Add Your Pictures to the Gallery.
2. If you arrive at the gallery, select Share Your Photos.
3. Log in if requested, then follow the upload form shown on your profile or media page.
4. Choose your picture, add a title if the form offers one, and confirm the upload.
5. Follow the available visibility settings. The homepage gallery shows public photos.

Open a gallery photo to view it. Use the viewer’s Previous and Next controls to browse; the gallery also supports keyboard navigation and mobile swiping.

7. Explore the Member Map

1. Select Explore Our World on the homepage or open the full member map.
2. Zoom in to explore an area.
3. Select a marker to see the information shared by that member.

Participation is voluntary. The map uses approximate city or country information. A member without a shared location may not appear.

• Cannot log in? Open Member Login and use the password recovery option.
• No activation email? Check your spam folder and confirm that the email address you entered is correct.
• Feed preview unavailable? Open Community directly and try the homepage Refresh button again later.
• Cannot message or upload? Check that you are logged in and look for the available options on your profile.
• Camera or microphone unavailable? Check your browser’s permissions for the video chat page.
• No members shown as active? Browse the full Members directory.
